Everybody loves a good movie, and whether we prefer to watch movies or make movies, movies are an inherent part of modern day life.

We all know the feeling when we've watched a really good movie. Movies can make us laugh, they can make us cry, they can make us happy, they can make us sad, they can make us reflective of our own selves and our own lives, examine our achievements, and inspire us to do more. A sign of a really good movie is when you've completely lost track of time, and you're there, immersed in the future, in the dessert or deep in the Vietnam undergrowth.

We all know when we're watching a really good movie, and equally, we all know when we're being conned. "Do they really expect us to believe that?" "That's not blood, its ketchup, anybody can see that!" Or one of the best ones, continuity, when a movie lacks continuity we spend our whole time trying to catch it out in other ways, rather than becoming immersed in the storyline. "Look, he's got his tie on, now it's off, now it's on" – you get the picture?

Getting Paid to Watch Movies

It is actually possible to be paid to watch movies, and I don't just mean if you're Roger Ebert, but some companies will pay you real cash money to go and watch the movies. Of course, you'll be expected to report back with information. How did the audience react? Did they show all the trailers? You know, the usual stuff, anyway, it can be a great way to see all the latest movies and be paid for the privilege.

Who Makes Movies

Movie making these days isn't half as technical as it once was, with the modern video cameras and digital equipment, many people make home movies these days and put them on the internet for absolutely zilch. YouTube is a testament to the many millions of home movie makers there are around these days, and there is immediate access to a potential audience of millions. Competition is hard, but it is possible to become an overnight YouTube sensation, even if it takes a few weeks.
